Bluebridge long distance race,Wairau River

Saturday 31st May 2008.
Start 3pm
Distance 5.1km From spring creek bridge to Blenheim Rowing Club.
Open to Eights,Octuples* and Quadruple sculls.In mens,womens and mixed boats in all boats. Bluebridge Quadruple Sculls Trophy awarded to fastest Masters Quad. Smash and Grab Trophy to fastest Masters Eight(sweep oar) or Octuple.(Sculling Eight) medals to winners by masters age handicap for men,women and mixed.For both quads and eights/octuples*

Safety briefing at 2pm at Blenheim Rowing Club Sheds. All boats to be on the water heading towards the bridge by 2.30 pm.

Octuples
Mens Quads
Womans Eights
Mixed Quads
Womans Quads
Any coxless quads will be sent away last.

This is a timed event the starter/umpires will set times between starts based on ages of crew andpotential speed.

Finish at BRC. After the race there will be a Hangi Meal and Sea Food BBQ hosted By the Arapawa Maori Rowing Club. Plus medal and trophy presentation to the winning crews.

Time between boats starts to be decided by umpires/starter.

For safety reasons it is requested that Quads are coxed where possible.It is understood and accepted that some clubs do not any/or enough coxed quads.

Currently there are two clubs planning to enter mixed octuples.
